How to draw a piano keyboard in your theory exam

Being able to draw a piano keyboard during a theory exam is really useful for working out intervals and note names. Here’s a quick visual guide as to how to do it:

Draw five rectangles in a group of two and a group of three. These are your black keys. Draw a line below them leaving a gap. Join the tops of the rectangle with another line. Draw a line at each end and in the gap between the two groups of rectangles. Add short lines between the bottom of the rectangles and the base line. If you want, you can add some shading to your black keys.

And there you have it.

Good luck with your exam! I hope this helps you.
