When will lessons be available face-to-face?

So long as the City of Edinburgh is in Level 2 or below, students will be able to choose to have their lessons face-to-face.

If the worst happens, and Edinbubrgh is moved back to Level 3 or above, all students will be given the option to move to Zoom lessons.

How are you making the studio safe?

Some changes have been made to the studio space and lesson set up to minimise the risk of transmission:

  • Leaving the door open for ventilation
  • Standing at least 1m and mostly 2m apart during lessons
  • Staggering lesson times to ensure students don’t overlap
  • Cleaning touchpoints between lessons
  • Not sharing books or props
  • Using digital lesson notes only
  • Not allowing access to the rest of the house
  • Asking parents to wait outside

What about face coverings?

You will not need to wear a face-covering during your lesson while singing because a face covering can impede your technique and make it harder for me to see what you are doing. It also makes it harder for you to see and hear when I am demonstrating or leading exercises.

If you would prefer that we wear face coverings during a lesson, we can do so when not singing or demonstrating.

Do I need to be vaccinated?

Emma has been fully vaccinated, which reduces the risk of transmission of Covid-19.

If you have been offered the vaccine, you are very much encouraged to get it. The vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and others around you from the risks of Covid-19.

Not everyone has been offered a vaccine (or haven’t had both jags), so if you are still waiting that won’t stop you from being able to come to face-to-face lessons. This includes children who are under 18.

If you have not been vaccinated, Emma will discuss with you the benefits of taking a free lateral flow test at home before coming to your lesson to avoid any asymptomatic transmission. Emma will test herself regularly to reduce the risk of asymptomatic transmission as well.

What happens if someone gets Covid-19?

If you show symptoms of Covid-19 or test positive you MUST NOT attend in person, but you can arrange to have an online lesson if you are well.

If you show symptoms of Covid-19 or test positive shortly after a lesson, you MUST inform Emma as soon as possible. This will allow Emma to self-isolate and to ensure that any other students who may need to isolate are informed.

If Emma has symptoms of Covid-19 or tests positive before or after a lesson, she will let you know. You may need to self-isolate. During any period of self-isolation, Emma will move all lessons online for the safety of all students. This may also be the case if a member of her family tests positive for Covid-19.
